Born in a small village in North Karnataka, Kudalayya Hiremath is ranked as one of the top 50 watercolour artists in the world. An Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya, Pune alumnus, Hiremath has chosen watercolour as his medium of expression. Portraits, landscapes and suggestive abstracts are his forte. He travels a lot to pick his subjects and draw inspiration for his paintings. His paintings are uncluttered which reflect clarity of thought and composition.
His vibrant strokes have earned him several awards in various national and international awards and recognitions. These include, award for water colour painting in Pune Festival (2009), Qualification for the 2013 International Watercolour Catalog and the Bombay Art Society Award for Watercolour Painting 2013. Some of his other achievements include being selected amongst top 30 artists at TWWCE 2016, Taiwan from more than 1100 submissions, winning first prize at All India Portrait Competition 2017 held at Ahmednagar, Maharashtra and honored as a YUVA KALAKAR by TULASI ATR FOUNDATION Pune in 2018.
He also finds time to guide younger painters in various groups, which also helps him mature as an artist.
The present show ‘Heritage‘ is a collection of art works representing various heritage places in India which hold immense cultural and historical significance.
